Abstract:
This study aims to identify the practice levels of leadership styles (i.e.,
democratic, autocratic and free leadership) and how they affect the work ethics in the
public sector. Selecting the Public Education Bureau (PEB) in Benghazi and using
the case study approach, the questionnaire was distributed to 144 employees. The
descriptive analysis and quantitative method were implemented. The researcher(s)
found the employees of PEB have a noticeable middle level of leadership style and
high level of work ethics. The results show a high inverse correlation between the
democratic leadership style and the level of work ethics. However, the relationship
between adopting autocratic leadership style and the level of work ethics was
statistically insignificant. Some recommendations and implementations that
contribute to adopting the leadership styles improve the level of work ethics in
Benghazi education sector were presented
