Abstract:
The settlement of Ruus al-Asalab is located on the Cyrenaica coast, about 15 km
east of the city of Apollonia (Soussa). The site is fossil sand dunes in the form of hills of
varying heights, at the beachfront about 100 meters. It reaches a maximum height of C. 40
m above sea level and extends east-west. On the hills there are several archaeological sites,
including a temple, quarries, cemetery, olive press, tanks and several other unidentified
buildings. The researcher tried to carry out a field Work study of the site due to the lack of
archaeological studies on it, as no excavations were conducted on the site. Stucchi .S is the
first to refer to the Temple of Ruus al-Asalab in his work the Architictura Cirenaica . The
Frigerio . C, study, which was published in the magazine Quaderni di archeologia della
Libya is the only study of the temple. The site served as a model for the endowment
agricultural lands that seemed to be endowments of the god Apollo and then moved to the
kings of the Ptolemy and from them to the Roman emperors and finally became the land ofendowments for the church. Through this study of the site, it became clear that the site
settled from the sixth century BC to the sixth century AD and reflects a model of coastal
rural settlements in Cyrenaica . Generally, the site still needs more archaeological survey
and excavation so that we can know the identity of many of the remains of buildings
scattered in or near the site
