dc.description.abstract The Omar Al-Mukhtar Association was active as a political movement in Benghazi and Derna during the second half of the forties of the twentieth century, and the choice of the name was in memory of Omar Al-Mukhtar and the jihad in Libya, as it is a political opposition movement that confronted British colonialism, and demanded the independence of Libya as a unified country, and confirmed the Arabness of the country by calling for its joining The League of Arab States, and expressed itself in statements, meetings, demonstrations and articles in newspapers, and the association was expressing the views, emotions and feelings of a segment of society that is predominantly revolutionary and nationalist, and most of them are young and many of them have received a great deal of education in Egypt, so the association had political weight Great in Cyrenaica with its boldness in taking national stances affecting the Libyan public opinion, as the press and demonstrations were used as a means of pressure on the British administration and the Libyan government later, and it seems that the national government in Cyrenaica and the British administration were aware of the position enjoyed by this association on the street Al-Libiy, especially in the cities of Benghazi and Derna, so I fought it with all force and put obstacles in front of it so that it would not have any political entity or influence in Cyrenaica, so it sought to solve it and was able From that in 1951 AD, and we will talk here about the emergence of Omar Al- Mukhtar Association and its branches, the stages of development it went through, and its political, cultural, scouting and sports activities. This research aims to shed light on the role of Omar Al-Mukhtar Association and its opposition to the British administration, contrary to the political trends carried by the founders of this association with the political trends of Prince Idris Al-Senussi, which led to its clash and opposition at times to Prince Idris. We will try here to raise some questions that need to be addressed. Scientific and objective answers and the axes of this research will be as follows: When did Omar Al Mukhtar Association originate in Egypt and how did it move to Benghazi? What are the goals of this association and the political confrontations of its owners? What were the most important political events that the association faced and how was its position on it? What is the cultural, social, sports and scout political role that the association played in Benghazi? How did the association open a branch for it in Derna? How this assembly ended. The answer to these questions will be the subject of our research paper in which we try to clarify the political, cultural, social and sports role of this association in Benghazi and Derna en_US
