This paper discusses the detection of the change in the land cover in the area of Al-Bayada,
based on satellite images and geographic information systems technology, using the
controlled classification of terrestrial phenomena in the study area, and the study targeted an
area of (14071.76) hectares, and the study aimed to know the change in the urban area of the
urban center Layering, monitoring the change in the vegetation mass and calculating its area,
knowing the extent of its decrease and classifying the land cover in the study area based on
the explanatory foundations. Vegetation (- 39.00%), between 1989 and 2019, and the land
cover in the study area was classified into four main categories, which are urban lands,
forests, agricultural lands, rock detectors and barren lands. The rate of change in urban lands
reached (297.3%). The change in agricultural lands amounted to (17.32%), while the
percentage of change in bare lands and rocky exposures amounted to (57.25%) of the total
area of the study area |
