In this research work, the acid dissociation constants of 4-(4-nitrophenylazo)&#13;
resorcinol = L1 and the formation constant of the metal chelates formed by&#13;
this ligand with Co(II), Cu(II), and Zn (II) have been determined&#13;
Potentiometrically at 288K in 75% ethanol-water mixture at 0.1M KNO3&#13;
ionic strength against 0.1 M KOH. The stability constants of metal complexes&#13;
were detected at different temperatures.&#13;
The thermodynamics parameters such as ΔG, ΔH and ΔS of binary&#13;
complexes were determined using the Vant-Hoff equations to measure the&#13;
effect of temperature on the stability of 4-(4-nitrophenylazo) resorcinol&#13;
complexes with metal ion. The influence of solvents on the free ligand and&#13;
their metal complexes have been determined and discussed

The incorporation of nanoparticles (NPs) to membrane has developed the&#13;
membrane separation to overcome fouling and to enhance antibacterial&#13;
properties of membrane. To date, Titanium Oxide (TiO2) NPs are utilized in&#13;
various industrial applications and recently the development in membrane&#13;
technology, owing to their superb antifouling, antibacterial, thermal and&#13;
mechanical stability. This study aims to evaluate the TiO2 NPs roles to&#13;
enhance the membrane quality in terms of antifouling, antibacterial properties&#13;
and the membrane performance. The contribution of this study is to bring the&#13;
researcher’s attention for the TiO2 NPs importance to modify the membrane&#13;
characteristics to overcome the fouling issues.

Biosorption of EBT molecules from aqueous solutions onto pomegranate peel&#13;
powder (PPP) have been examined in a batch biosorption process. The biosorption&#13;
procedure was found to be dependent on biosorbent dose, pH of the solution, initial&#13;
dye concentration, and contact time. The experimental equilibrium biosorption data&#13;
were inspected by Langmuir, Freundlich, Temkin and Dubinin ̶ Radushkevic&#13;
isotherms models. The Langmuir model gave the best fit by higher correlation&#13;
coefficient( R2 =0.966, it assumes as monolayer adsorption). The maximum&#13;
biosorption capacities determined from the Langmuir, isotherm models&#13;
was71.42mg/g, at optimum circumstances. The kinetic studies showed that the&#13;
biosorption operation of the EBT dye obeyed well pseudo-second-order model.&#13;
According to the determined biosorption capacity, pomegranate peel powder is&#13;
considered to be an effective, low cost, and environmentally friendly biosorbent for&#13;
the removal of EBT dye from aqueous solutions

In this research, the conductivity (κ) of carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC)&#13;
solutions of different concentrations and chains length was studied at&#13;
various temperatures. κ was found to increase with increasing&#13;
concentration, temperature, and decreasing the chain length of CMC. The&#13;
activation energy (Eκ) of the different solutions was estimated according to&#13;
the Andrade equation, Eκ was increased with increasing concentration and&#13;
decreasing the chain length of CMC. The results indicated that solute –&#13;
solute contact is decreased and the solute-solvent interaction is increased in&#13;
CMC solutions with increasing temperature and decreasing chain&#13;
dimensions of CMC.

Lead is a toxic and harmful substance that can impact the homeostasis process of&#13;
blood components and blood pressure. The objective of the study was to evaluate&#13;
blood lead levels among painting workers (lead paint exposed group) and in&#13;
unexposed group (control group).The second objective was to investigate its impact&#13;
on hematological components and blood pressure. A total of 64 adult male subjects&#13;
whose ages ranged between 20-45 years were included in this study, 34 of painting&#13;
workers and 30 subjects as a control group. All the results were statistically analyzed&#13;
using SPSS version 14 for applying one way ANOVA test. The mean age of painting&#13;
workers was 33.02 ± 7.02 years and 34.23 ±7.12 years control group. Blood lead,&#13;
RBCs, WBCs, Hb, HCT, MCV, MCH and systolic, diastolic blood pressure were&#13;
measured in the study. Blood Lead level of exposed group was 6.39±3.32 μg/dL and&#13;
1.25±0.58 μg/dL for unexposed group. Significant decrease in the levels of RBCs,&#13;
Hb, MCV, HCT and MCH among lead paint exposed group as compared to unexposed&#13;
group. On the other hand, WBCs levels were almost the same and were not significant&#13;
for both groups. Systolic and diastolic blood pressure levels were significantly&#13;
increasing in exposed group as compared to unexposed group. It is concluded that&#13;
lead exposure has an adverse effect on hematological components and causes anemia.&#13;
Lead exposure contributes to cardiovascular diseases by elevating blood pressure even&#13;
at low lead levels. Moreover, long susceptibility to lead exposure deteriorates blood&#13;
components and blood pressure.

Cigarette smoking is the main cause of death and disease in our society. It, clearly has a&#13;
dangerous impact on the health of smokers and other people around them, alongside economic&#13;
issues for the smokers. Nicotine is merely one among the several thousands of compounds&#13;
identified in tobacco. The aim of this study was to determine of nicotine in blood samples in&#13;
smokers and nonsmokers by developement of a rapid, simple, reliable, and one-step extraction&#13;
method, in order to isolate and determine nicotine in human plasma samples using Reversed&#13;
Phase - High Performance Liquid Chromatography (RP-HPLC), constituting liquid–liquid&#13;
extraction with binary solvents to get better detection limit, linearity over high range, recovery,&#13;
and no interference peaks. In the present study, twenty blood samples are collected from smokers&#13;
and nonsmokers in El-Beida City, Libya. Samples are taken from an volunteer at the same time&#13;
after each volunteer fills during a questionnaire. The method of analysis is validated over a wide&#13;
linear range of 1.62–162.12 µg/mL with correlation coefficients being consistently greater than&#13;
0.9999. The results of nicotine concentrations in male smokers’ plasma are within the range of&#13;
3.292 - 66.398 µg/mL with an average of 11.950 µg/mL. Whereas its concentrations in nonsmokers’plasma are in the range of 3.3004 - 9.001 µg/mL with an average of 4.624 µg/mL. The&#13;
average of the concentrations of nicotine in smokers’plasma is greater than non-smokers plasma.&#13;
The criteria considered for validation are: limit of detection, limit of quantitation, linearity,&#13;
accuracy, precision and confidence limit. Statistical analysis show that the nicotine levels were&#13;
significant difference within the smoker samples in contrast with the nonsmoker samples using&#13;
RP-HPLC method.

Epichlorohydrin is an important petrochemical which is a base material in the&#13;
manufacture of epoxy resins. Epoxy resins have become firmly well established in&#13;
countless applications and techniques. Currently, epichlorohydrin is produced by&#13;
chlorohydrination of allyl chloride, derived by chlorination of propylene but the yield&#13;
is limited to 60-65%. The process also releases chlorine causing air pollution problems&#13;
in the area.&#13;
This paper presents another alternative method of production of epichlorohydrin from&#13;
allyl chloride using hydrogen peroxide as an oxidant and sodium tungstate or sodium&#13;
molybdate as catalysts. This process will be environmentally safer and a cleaner&#13;
process. The kinetics and mechanism of this process have been studied. The reaction&#13;
is first order with respect to allyl chloride and catalyst (sodium tungstate or sodium&#13;
molybdate) but zero order with respect to hydrogen peroxide. The energy of activation&#13;
has been determined. A reaction mechanism has also been proposed.

efficiencies when the mobile phase is linear gradients of Methanol in an&#13;
aqueous sodium acetate (50mmol/L, pH 5.40), using diode-array detector at&#13;
240nm. The ligand N,N’-Bis(salicylidene)1,3-propylenediamine N,N’-&#13;
Bis(salicylidene)1,3- propylenediamine, N,N’-Bis(salicylidene)-2,2-&#13;
dimethyl-1,3-propylenediamine, and N,N’ Bis(2-Hydroxyacetophenone)-&#13;

part of Piptatherummiliaceum using flame atomic absorption spectroscopy (FAAS)&#13;
in order to detect the path of the metals through the plant parts. Piptatherum&#13;
miliaceum accumulate chromium in the root according to phytostabilization&#13;
mechanism.

Paraoxonase-1 (PON-1) is an enzyme with a glycoprotein structure that depends on&#13;
calcium and it has cardio protective effects that protect low-density lipoprotein&#13;
(LDL) and high-density lipoprotein (HDL) from oxidation and therefore retards&#13;
atherosclerosis. As patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) are at high risk of&#13;
atherosclerotic, in this study, we aimed to investigate serum PON-1 activity and&#13;
concentration levels among patients with 4th stage of CKD compared with the&#13;
healthy control subjects, to find out the possibility of taking the PON-1 as a&#13;
predictor marker of atherosclerosis in 4th stage of CKD patients.&#13;
Materials and Methods: This study included 30 patients with confirmed diagnosis&#13;
of 4th stage of CKD, and 30 healthy persons. Serum blood urea, creatinine, uric&#13;
acid, Albumin, total cholesterol, HDL, LDL and serum triglycerides were measured.&#13;
Serum level of PON-1 concentration was measured using ELISA technique, while&#13;
Serum level of PON-1 activity was detected using a colorimetric method.&#13;
Results: Our study showed significant increase (p&lt;0.001) in the levels of&#13;
Cholesterol, Triglyceride, LDL and VLDL in patients with 4th stage of CKD as&#13;
compared to control group. Also, we found significant decreased levels of serum&#13;
HDL and PON-1 in 4th stage of CKD as compared to control group (p&lt;0.001).&#13;
Conclusion: The diminution in the serum paraoxonase-1 activity and concentration&#13;
may contribute to the accelerated development of atherosclerosis in patients with&#13;
stage 4 of chronic kidney disease

The presence high levels of potassium bromate in bread is very undesirable&#13;
considering its deleterious effects and heavy metals also are implicated in&#13;
carcinogenesis, mutagenesis and teratogens . In our study standard curve of&#13;
potassium bromate and heavy metals ( nickel , iron and copper ) the strategy showed&#13;
good linearity regression (R2 = 0.99 ).&#13;
 linearity of the strategy was performed during a range 1- 5 ppm of KBO3 and&#13;
therefore the method showed good linearity regression (R2 = 0.97) with y=0.157x ,&#13;
10 – 50 ppm of Cu (R2 = 0.99 ), with y = 0.001 x , 1- 5 ppm of Ni, with y = 0.018 x&#13;
and (R2 = 0.99 ) , 1-5 ppm of Fe with y= 0 . 59 x and (R2 = 0.99 ) and Which is&#13;
showing good linearity, precision, accuracy and sensitivity, which might be used for&#13;
determination heavy metals .&#13;
The quantity of potassium bromate bread samples ranged from 0.38 to 13.72 ppm&#13;
and therefore the amount of Ni in bread ranged from 0.66 to 2. 7 ppm the quantity of&#13;
Cu ranged from 5 to 41 ppm and the quantity of Fe 0.003 ppm to 0.03 ppm

The purpose of this work is to evaluate Al Faidiyah Formation in Al Fatiah quarry for&#13;
industrial uses, NE Libya. The bulk samples were analyzed for major oxides using by&#13;
(ICP-MS) inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry technique. The analysis&#13;
was done in the Nuclear Materials authority of Egypt. The chemical analysis data&#13;
showed that the calcite mineral is the main carbonate mineral in study area. Al&#13;
Faidiyah Formation contains high pure limestone, and is suitable for many industries&#13;
(i.e. manufacturing process, chemical industry, neutralizes acids, construction process&#13;
and steel industry).

using atomic absorption spectroscopy. Biological absorption coefficient (BAC),&#13;
bioconcentration factor (BCF), and translocation factor (TF) have been calculated for&#13;
each element in order to understand the mechanism of extraction in the studied plant.&#13;
Malva parviflora has the potential for phytoremediation of soils contaminated by&#13;
heavy metal.

Metal nanoparticles have unique properties and different scientific, industrial, and&#13;
environmental applications. In this study, an optical sensor has been optimized for&#13;
mercury (II) ion detection. This sensor is based on the redox interaction of Hg (II)&#13;
ions with Albumin/Silver Nanoparticles (Alb/AgNPs) in an aqueous solution. The&#13;
addition of Hg (II) ions caused a visual color change from dark brown to colorless.&#13;
The color change was proportion to the concentration of mercury ions. Different&#13;
parameters affecting the Hg (II) and Alb/AgNPs interaction, such as the&#13;
concentration of Alb/SNPs and the time of reaction, were carefully studied and&#13;
optimized. Under the optimal experimental conditions, the difference absorbance&#13;
(ΔA) at 440 nm was linearly proportional to Hg (II) ion concentration in the range&#13;
from 0.293 µM to 2.340 µM with a limit of detection of 0.141µM. The optimized&#13;
sensor was used to detect mercury (II) ions in samples of lightening cream products

in the methanolic extract of Cynara cornigera roots. In addition quantify the&#13;
total phenol content (TPC), total flavonoid contents (TFC) using&#13;
spectrophotometric methods. The total phenolic compounds determined by&#13;
using Folin Ciocalteu. While, the total flavonoid contents of the extract&#13;
determined using quercetin reference standard method. Phytochemical&#13;
analyses of the extract was carried out using standard methods to assess the&#13;
major classes of phytochemicals alkaloids, flavonoids, phenolic, tannins,&#13;
saponins, steroids, terpenoids, carbohydrate and glycosides. Phytochemical&#13;
screening revealed that all the tests were positive except alkaloids,&#13;
saponins, and steroids. The total phenol and flavonoids content of the&#13;
methanolic extract of Cynara cornigera roots show high concentration. The&#13;
estimated phenolics and flavonoids content are 17.59 mg/g and 18.62 mg/g&#13;
respectively. These findings suggest that the methanol extract of Cynara&#13;
cornigera roots has potential invitro antioxidant activities. According to the&#13;
obtained results, the roots of Cynara cornigera considered as a rich source&#13;
of natural antioxidants since its methanolic extract contains many effective&#13;
chemical compounds that demonstrate the highest free radical scavenging&#13;
capacity

The water springs are the main sources for drinking and irrigation in Al Jabal Al &#13;
Khdar, NE Libya. This study will be reviewed the hydrochemistry characterization of &#13;
Al Dabosia, Massah, Apollo and Al Hufara springs. The results showed the Al &#13;
Dabosia , Apollo and Al Hufara springs are characterized by moderate fresh water &#13;
whereas Massah spring is characterized by hard fresh water. The piper diagram is &#13;
classified the water springs as Ca HCO3 (II Type) except Apollo spring is contained &#13;
CaMgCl (IV Type). Plot of Mg/Ca vs. Na/Ca ratio of water springs revealed the source &#13;
of major ions were originated from limestone and terra rossa soil weathering. &#13;
According to WHO (2018) the water springs in study areas should be treated for &#13;
drinking water.

The major purpose of this study was to recognize the role of different extraction &#13;
techniques (decoction, Soxhlet, and soaking) and solvents (water, ethanol, ethyl &#13;
acetate, ether, and chloroform) on the antimicrobial activities of extracts &#13;
of Teucrium davaeanum. These solvents were examined to determine the conditions &#13;
for which extracts with a higher content of bioactive compounds. The Kirby-Bauer &#13;
disk diffusion method was used to assess in vitro antimicrobial activity of the &#13;
different crude botanical extracts against Gram-positive (Staphylococcus aureus) &#13;
and -negative (Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa). The antibiotics &#13;
Gentamycin, Ciprofloxacin, and Azithromycin were used for antimicrobial &#13;
susceptibility tests. The microbial growth was determined by measuring the &#13;
diameter of the zone of inhibition and the mean values are presented with ± S.E.M. &#13;
The ethyl acetate extract showed the highest inhibition diameter of 20±1 mm at a &#13;
concentration of 0.1 g/mL against S. aureus, so it is considered to have higher &#13;
efficacy than Ciprofloxacin, which showed an inhibition diameter of 15 mm. The &#13;
isolated essential oil is also showed powerful inhibition effect with a diameter of &#13;
12±2 mm against S. aureus and 10±2 mm towards P. aeruginosa at a concentration &#13;
of 0.1 g/mL, so it is a higher antimicrobial effect than Gentamycin and &#13;
Azithromycin, which showed an inhibition diameter of 10 mm. The cold aqueous &#13;
extract afforded an inhibiting diameter of 7 mm against S. aureus at a concentration &#13;
of 0.1 g/mL, so it is considered to be less effective compared to the antibiotics that &#13;
used as control. Moreover, hot water showed a low inhibitory effect on E. coli with &#13;
3±1 mm at a concentration of 0.1 g/mL. The results of applying ethanol extract &#13;
showed an inhibitory effect on S. aureus only with 4±1 mm, otherwise, the results of &#13;
applying chloroform extract and diethyl ether showed no inhibitory effect. &#13;
Therefore, the most active extract was ethyl acetate extract, followed by volatile oil &#13;
and then the cold aqueous extract. This could be attributed to the higher content of &#13;
bioactive compounds in both extracts of ethyl acetate extract and essential oil.

To study the ability of using olive oil industry wastes by yeast strain Candida. &#13;
rugosa to grow in solid state fermentation for lipase and protease production. Lipase &#13;
production in submerged fermentation of olive mill waste water. The enzymes &#13;
production was ranged from 4.2 to 9.8 IU/g of lipase on the second day of &#13;
fermentation period and from 21 to 64.5 IU/g of protease on the third day of &#13;
fermentation period. The supplementation of the olive oil cake with yeast extract as &#13;
a nitrogen source significantly increased the lipase (157%) and protease (49 %) &#13;
production. The chemical composition of olive oil cake estimated before and after &#13;
fermentation process, results shown that the nutritional value was improved to be &#13;
use as animal feed. Submerged fermentation of olive mill waste water shown that &#13;
the yeast C. rugosa could growth on undiluted sample, and to produce up to 220.1 &#13;
U/ dm-3 of lipase in 1st day, lipase production was found to be promoted by the &#13;
addition of tween 80. The highest lipolytic activity of 1667.5 IU dm-3 was achieved &#13;
after 6 days of submerged cultivation in supplemented olive mill wastewater. The &#13;
results indicated that olive mill waste water and olive oil cake seemed to provide &#13;
necessary nutrients and physical support for the yeast to grow and produce enzymes. &#13;
The fermentation of olive mills wastes could be a good technique to save our &#13;
environment and produce a valuable thing by using harmful wastes.

The extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) extracted from Pseudomonas &#13;

ATCC 11172, were used as model to quantify the effect of carbon concentration &#13;
on the chemical composition of EPS.P. putida was grown using Luria broth (LB) &#13;
medium with and without glucose in order to promote different EPS composition. &#13;
The influence of glucose amount was studied by supplementing the LB medium &#13;
with glucose at 0.5% w/v (LBG 0.5%) and 1.0% w/v (LBG 1%). The produced &#13;
EPS was characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and X-ray &#13;
photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). FTIR were used to describe the difference in &#13;
functional groups on free and bound EPS surfaces. XPS analysis was performed to &#13;
quantify the element surface composition, to evaluate the local chemical &#13;
environment of carbon and oxygen at the free and bound EPS, and to calculate the &#13;
overall concentration of polysaccharides, peptide and hydrocarbon compounds of &#13;
free and bound EPS. The combination of XPS and FTIR spectroscopy allows a &#13;
more comprehensive characterization of free and bound EPS surfaces.

In this work, we developed a potato starch film incorporated with curcumin to be &#13;
used as a pH-sensitive smart polymeric material, which could be applied as a pH &#13;
probe in food industry. The Beer-Lambert law was used to characterize curcumin &#13;
which was purchased from the pharmacy of alternative medicine in the city of &#13;
Benghazi. As a control experiment, the visual colour changes of curcumin powder &#13;
dissolved in buffered aqueous solution were examined at the pH rage of 5-11. It was &#13;
found that the colour of the solution altered from yellow to reddish-brown, as the pH &#13;
of the curcumin solution changed from 7 to 8. Curcuminwas also incorporated into &#13;
the starch extracted from potato before being formed into an edible film using a &#13;
solution casting method. The pH-sensitivity of film was investigated at varied pH &#13;
values (pH 5-11), the visual colour variations of tapioca starch-curcumin film was &#13;
noted. The colour of edible film changed from pale yellow to dark orange colour by &#13;
increasing the pH.But, the addition curcumin to the potato starch film did not alter &#13;
mechanical properties of starch. As a result of an alteration in film colours, the &#13;
potato starch-curcumin film could be applied as a natural pH indicator for &#13;
monitoring food spoilage based on the acidity changes. Likewise, an &#13;

The oil refineries are the most important of chemical industries which produce &#13;
Benzene and its metabolites that among the most dangerous compounds are toxic &#13;
oxidizers causing many serious health risks to oil refineries workers. This study &#13;
aimed to analyze the effects of exposure to petrochemicals on biochemical&#13;
parameters among workers at Al Zawia oil refinery and Mellituh oil and gas refinery &#13;
companies and compared with the unexposed group. Methodology: Analysis of &#13;
plasma samples and their comparison with biochemical tests of kidney and liver &#13;
function among two groups designated as exposed (100 petroleum refineries &#13;
workers) and control subjects (100 non-oil civil servants), respectively. Results: The &#13;
exposed group had a significantly elevated mean concentration of alkaline &#13;
phosphatase ALP (u/L) as compared to unexposed (178.2 ± 84.3 versus 132.32 ± &#13;
52.7, p = &lt;0.001). Also, the mean aspartate aminotransferase AST (IU/L) levels &#13;
were significantly higher in the exposed group compared with the unexposed group &#13;
(25.6 ± 7.4 versus 23.5 ± 7.5, P = 0.03). Similarly, the mean serum alanine &#13;
aminotransferase ALT (IU/L) levels were increased significantly in the benzene &#13;
exposed group compared with the unexposed group (22.3 ± 9.47 versus 18.87 ± 9.6, &#13;
P = 0.01), and the mean± SD of serum creatinine (mg/dL) and blood urea nitrogen &#13;
(BUN) (mg/dL) levels were significantly increased (0.98 ± 0.27 versus 0.70 ± 0.24, P &#13;
= &lt; 0.001), and (33.9 ± 9.3 versus 22.4 ± 9.1, P = &lt;0.001) in the benzene exposed &#13;
group compared with the unexposed group, respectively. Conclusion: occupational &#13;
exposure to benzene caused significant alterations in biochemical parameters &#13;
indicating that workers may be at a higher risk of developing hepatic or renal related &#13;
disorders.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a form of chronic inflammation, a systemic &#13;
autoimmune disorder that destroys synovial joints. The cause of RA is still &#13;
unknown, and at present and there is no cure. RA is one of the most common types &#13;
of chronic inflammatory polyarthritis. It represents a significant health burden with &#13;
an approximately 1% prevalence worldwide. It mainly affects women, two times &#13;
more than men. Copper complexes were used in the 1940's to 1970's for the &#13;
treatment of the inflammation associated with RA. The ligands chosen were &#13;
sarcosyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine (Sar-His-Lys), sarcosyl-L-lysyl-L-histidine (Sar-Lys His), sarcosyl-L-histidyl-L-histidine (Sar-His-His), sarcosyl-L-lysyl-L-lysine (Sar Lys-Lys), sarcosyl-L-glycyl-L-histidine (Sar-Gly-His) and sarcosyl-L-leucyl phenylalanine (Sar-Leu-Phe). Our previous studies have shown equilibrium &#13;
constants of H+&#13;
, Cu(II), Ni(II) and Zn(II) with these tripeptides and the structures of &#13;
the complex species were investigated using UV-Vis, ESR and 1H NMR &#13;
spectroscopy. An objective of the study was to increase the available pool of copper &#13;
in vivo. This was evaluated using a computer model of blood plasma, which &#13;
considers competition with endogenous metal ions and ligands. It is particularly &#13;
important that the ligands were evaluated using the Evaluation of Constituent &#13;
Concentrations in Large Equilibrium (ECCLE) system, an in vivo speciation model &#13;
of blood plasma. Dermal absorption is the preferred method of administration, and &#13;
so this study used partition coefficients and tissue permeability studies to assess the &#13;
bioavailability of the different complexes. Based on the results of this study, Sar Lys-His and Sar-Gly-His have a higher mobilising capacity than all the other &#13;
tripeptides.

Frying is a popular cooking technique in the world and vegetable oil is widely used &#13;
as the frying medium in this process. Deep-fat frying produces both desirable and &#13;
undesirable compounds through various physical and chemical reactions. This &#13;
research carried out to investigate the effect of frying process on some &#13;
physicochemical properties of some vegetable oils. For these. Some vegetable oils &#13;
(olive oil, corn oil, sunflower oil and flaxseed oil) were used chips frying for one &#13;
hours, the frying was repeated three times and physicochemical tests were done &#13;
before and after each time. These changes include refractive index, viscosity, density &#13;
and peroxide value of these vegetable oil during the frying process. The result &#13;
showed that refractive index and viscosity increased by increasing the frying &#13;
process, as the unsaturation while the density decreased by progress of frying &#13;
process, the peroxide value was increased after the 1st frying then the peroxide value &#13;
decline as the frying process progress.

evaluated in order to evaluate some natural and chemical parameters such as &#13;
mechanical analysis and acidity, as well as images and phosphorous concentration in &#13;
soil (available phosphorous). In this study, a single-beam UV spectrophotometer &#13;
was used to estimate the absorbance of phosphorous. Through the analysis processes &#13;
that were reached and estimation of some concentrations of phosphorus, it was &#13;
found that several samples contain a high percentage of phosphorous, and several of &#13;
them contain a low percentage, and the majority of samples range from medium to &#13;
the last, which are considered suitable for global standards

the safety of some bread and baked products by determining the residual potassium &#13;
bromate using a spectrophotometric method, in twenty nine bread and different &#13;
bakery products samples included; croissant, toast and cake, collected from different &#13;
bakeries in Benghazi, Libya. The obtained results indicated that, the level of residual &#13;
potassium bromate in the analyzed bread and baked samples ranged from &#13;
0.6138µg/g to 1.558µg/g, with mean concentration equal to 0.9641± 0.4 µg/g. A &#13;
significant differences were found in the potassium bromate levels of the different &#13;
analysed samples (P&lt;0.05). The results of this study showed that the contents of &#13;
potassium bromate in all analysed baked products were higher than permissible limit &#13;
sets by Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and by Libyan Standard Regulations. &#13;
The excessive consumption of potassium bromate has a highly toxic effects to &#13;
consumer`s health.

In this work, we evaluate ground water quality of nine Tazerbo wells southeast &#13;
Libya for drinking and irrigation uses. Nine ground water samples were subjected to &#13;
Atomic absorption for major ions. The results showed the parameters of water &#13;
samples are below the acceptable limit except (Fe). The plot of EC vs. Na % &#13;
classified the water samples as excellent quality for irrigation uses. The source of &#13;
major ions are originated mainly from silicate rocks. The iron level in the studied &#13;
water samples are seriously affected on human health. The techniques that use to &#13;
remove the iron from drinking water such as oxidation with chlorine, ozone, green &#13;
sand filter and reverse osmosis.

Arsenic is one of the known toxic elements to human’s life. Never the less, the level &#13;
of toxicity relies on the classification of chemical species of arsenic as organic or &#13;
inorganic which being a big concern in industrial and environmental chemistry. &#13;
different separation methods as HPLC or IC has been coupled to either ICP-MS or &#13;
ICP–OES in order to increase sensitivity of determining As(III) and As(V), while &#13;
for determining As(III) and total As need a chemical reduction of As(V) before &#13;
utilise voltammetry .with the aim of having best technique to trace elements levels &#13;
especially toxic elements , some aspects must to be advanced such as reducing &#13;
chemical and physical interferences , high sensitivity , low LOD and LOQ , less &#13;
time consuming , more accurate than conventional techniques and less cost &#13;
equipment. Other methods as bio-components, ETAA, (INAA) and AAS have been &#13;
showing promising future for analysis techniques.

There is an increased concentrations of heavy metals in the roadside soils due &#13;
the human activities. Soil and plant samples from the roadside areas in &#13;
Benghazi city were collected and analysed using Flame atomic absorption &#13;
spectrophotometry for their heavy metal contents. The total metal content of &#13;
Ni and Pb has been determined in soil surrounded the plant roots, plant roots, &#13;
and Leaves. In order to evaluate the performance of Piptatherummiliaceum to &#13;
extract the metals from soil, different factors such as Biological Absorption &#13;
Coefficient (BAC), Bioconcentration Factor (BCF), and Translocation factor &#13;
(TF) have been calculated. The results showed that Piptatherummiliaceumis &#13;
more suitable for phytostabilisation than phytoextraction. Phytoremediation as &#13;
a green technology has many advantages over the other methods of heavy &#13;
metals removal from soils.

In this research work, the acid dissociation constants of 4-(4-nitrophenylazo) &#13;
resorcinol = L1 and the formation constant of the metal chelates formed by this &#13;
ligand with Co(II), Cu(II), and Zn (II) have been determined Potentiometrically at &#13;
288K in 75% ethanol-water mixture at 0.1M KNO3 ionic strength against 0.1 M &#13;
KOH. The stability constants of metal complexes were detected at different &#13;
temperatures. &#13;
The thermodynamics parameters such as ΔG, ΔH and ΔS of binary complexes were &#13;
determined using the Vant-Hoff equations to measure the effect of temperature on &#13;
the stability of 4-(4-nitrophenylazo) resorcinol complexes with metal ion. The &#13;
influence of solvents on the free ligand and their metal complexes have been &#13;
determined and discussed

The starting compound 2-(3-(dimethylamino)acryloyl)-3H-benzo[f]chromen-3-one &#13;
(4) was prepared from the reaction of 2-acetylbenzo[f]coumarin-3-one (3) with &#13;
DMFDMA in refluxing xylene. Reaction of enaminone4 with 6-aminothiouracil in &#13;
acetic acid afforded 2-thioxo-2,3-dihydro-1H-pyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidin-4-one 6.The &#13;
latter compound was used as the key molecule for synthesis of &#13;
pyridotriazolopyrimidinones9a-d via its reactionwith various hydrazonoyl halides in &#13;
dioxane and triethylamine.

In this study, γ-Fe2O3 were synthesis by a chemical route at room temperature in &#13;
the presence of a capping agent and without a capping agent. The capping agent &#13;
used for covering Fe2O3 was tri-sodium citrate, the absorption spectra obtained by &#13;
UV–Vis spectrophotometer in the wavelength range of 200 -800 nm. From this, it &#13;
found that the optical band gap transitions of the γ-Fe2O3 nanoparticles in the &#13;
absence of tri sodium citrate as 3.00 eV and with the present tri sodium citrate &#13;
capped iron oxide as 2.28 eV. The sizes estimated utilizing observed band gaps data &#13;
were in the range of 1.37 nm and 1.41 nm respectively the average sizes found to be &#13;
increased as the band gap declined because of the quantum size effect
